Road Modernisation Plan – Woodlands Retaining Wall replacement

Close modal ×

Woodlands retaining wall was built in the 1960s and retains private gardens backing onto the A406 North Circular Road. It's comprised of 55 mass concrete panels of various lengths, and movement in several panels had been observed for several decades. As part of the Road Modernisation Plan, Transport for London implemented an innovative solution to stop any further deterioration and secure the ground above and behind the wall, making the adjacent footpath safe for pedestrians and homeowners. Watch this film to find out more about this innovation.
